Le Catalpa

Welcome to our house Le Catalpa. It is a recently renovated property in which we have combined its original charm and character but still provide you with the convenience of modern life.

We hope you enjoy your stay in France in Le Catalpa.
(Le Catalpa is the tree in the Garden).

Here is some information we have put together, about the house to help your holiday go smoothly. If you have any
questions or problems please do not hesitate to ask us or at Longeveau.

Swimming Pool

The swimming pool in flat bottomed so is 1.40metres at both ends.

Please don’t take glasses or bottles around the pool, there are plastic glasses supplied.

There are towels supplied for use around the pool. They are in the utility room. Please do not use the bathroom towels around the pool.

The cover on the pool is a new solar type that will assist the heat pump in warming the water. It also helps to retain the heat of the water over night. If not covered it can lose up to 2 degrees overnight. To keep the pool at the best temperature it is recommended that the cover is left on when not using the pool and always at night, especially during cool weather. To uncover, just roll the cover back using the wheel on the roller. To cover its easier with 2 people, firstly unravel the part that will cover the steps, into the water then just grab a corner rope each and pull slowly over.

We will be cleaning the pool twice a week the days are on the blackboard in the kitchen.

Water Softener

There is a water softener installed so you may notice the water in the shower a lot nicer, as the water is very hard in this area, hair and skin will feel much softer.

About once a week the water softener automatically runs a cleaning cycle. This is always at about 2am. So if you hear running water in the night, in the utility room, don’t worry it is just the water softener doing its thing!

Bins and Recycling

A bin under the sink in the kitchen, with a black bag, for general waste that can be put in the wheelie bin in the garden. There is a grey bin in the utility for recycling cans, tins, plastics, card, paper  NOT bottles or jars, these go in the bottle bank in the main Longeveau car park. The yellow recycling bag goes in the barn with green doors past the main carpark on the left.

Heating
Le Catalpa does have heating for the winter. But if you feel you do need it on at any time or some wood for the fire, please either let us or Longeveau know and we can switch it on for you.

Nespresso coffee machine

Fill the machine's water tank with water

Press either of the two buttons on top of the machine to heat the water to brewing temp—The two buttons will blink for about 25 seconds until the water has reached brewing temp, after which they'll remain on.

Lift the chrome bar and insert your coffee capsule. Push the bar down firmly to secure the capsule.

Place your cup under the exit nozzle on top of the drip tray. You can remove the drip tray to accommodate taller mugs.

Choose which size you want—either a 1.35 oz shot of espresso or 3.70 oz lungo shot., release the button. Enjoy your espresso shot or great espresso-based specialty beverage. The glass cups are perfect size for the lungo.

After brewing, the used capsule will remain in the brewing chamber until your next brew. When you lift the bar, the used capsule falls into the spent capsule container. After every few uses, empty and clean out the drip tray, remove by pulling forward.
